This gluten free hamburger recipe is a wonderful way to serve hamburgers. We are basically just removing the bun. Nothing crazy about it, however the way you present the dish gives this recipe its flare and appeal. We’ve all heard the term eating with our eyes and that’s why presentation is so important.
To be honest with you I don’t even mix any seasoning, breadcrumbs or anything else into the ground meat. I just add salt and pepper when I am searing in the juices with a non stick saute pan.
To form the patty’s I used the lid from a plastic jar that would match the size I would want for my burger. Just place saran wrap on top and place the amount of your burger meat inside the cap on top of your saran wrap. Push the meat outwards so it forms a burger patty and when you have your shape you can just lift the saran wrap to pop out your homemade hamburger patty.
I dressed my burger with tomatoes, cheese, bacon, red onion and mixed green salad on top which I tossed in olive oil and lemon juice. With the burger being so rich it’s nice to add some kind of acid to the dish.
Really there are so many different dishes you can make gluten free when doing a homemade hamburger with out the bun. As long as you don’t add any fillers to the burger patty like breadcrumbs and you leave the bun out of the dish you will end up with a so called gluten free hamburger.
Gluten Free Hamburger Recipe
- Medium ground beef
- 4 Slices of crsipy bacon
- 3 Oz of sharp cheddar
- Red onion slices
- Tomato slices
- 1 Handful of spring mix
- ½ Lemon juiced
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 3-4 Cherry tomatoes
- Salt and pepper
- Take your saran wrap and place over a lid you have selected for your homemade hamburger patty's. Place the beef on top and push into the shape of the lid to make your patty's. Remove from lid.
- Once all your patty's are formed place a non-stick pan on med-high heat. Once pan is hot season both sides of hamburger patty with salt and pepper and cook by searing both sides. Depending on how thick your patty the time will vary. Mine was a medium thickness so I also cover the pan with a lid. Just make sure your pan is extremely hot when covering with a lid in order for you to get a nice crust. Mine took 6-8 minutes per side.
- Take a plate, place tomato slices on it. Once patty's are cooked, place first patty on top, add some shredded cheddar, add crispy bacon. Place second patty on top, add some shredded cheddar, add red onion and top off with your spring mix and tomato salad. The cheese will melt from the residual heat coming off the patty's. I added some of my famous homemade pickles on the side and a little dish of ketchup and mustard for dipping.
