What is a Banh Mi sandwich?

Banh Mi Sandwich is a Vietnamese sandwich that is made on a baguette usually made of rice and flour. Traditionally speaking, but for today’s post I used a baguette from the local grocery store. The sandwich has many variations to it, but the main ingredients used are some kind of meat, pickled vegetables, cucumbers, coriander/cilantro, spicy peppers, pate, and mayonnaise. Obviously other ingredients can be added to give your own personal touch to the sandwich, but today I kept it pretty traditional.

Bahn Mi Sandwich

Now that we've pickled the vegetables and marinated the pork, the final steps are a lot easier.

Ingredients

  • 1 pork tenderloin
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 2 baguette
  • 1/2 cup cucumbers thinly sliced
  • 1 cup pickled vegetables
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 bunch chopped cilantro

Instructions

  • Remove pork from marinade, and try to scrape or pat dry any excess of marinade. Heat oil in non-stick pan on med/high heat. Once hot cook pork 2 minutes on each side. Remove pork from pan and let rest on plate till all the pork is cooked.
  • Cut you baguette length wise with a serrated knife but ensure you don't cut all the way through. Toast the baguette.
  • Add mayonnaise and sriracha. Add rest of the ingredients. Press the baguette closed gently and cut in half. Enjoy!
