My tomato mozzarella and basil bruschetta recipe is a classic combination of flavors that go so well together. I didn’t create the combination but I assembled my own bruschetta and took my own pictures, and then I ate it. Delicious! This Italian appetizer is a great way to start a meal or even have as a late snack. For me its usually a late snack as I work late nights and when I come home I don’t want to spend that much effort to eat. This tomato, mozzarella and basil bruschetta took 5 minutes to put together so don’t be lazy and make one for yourself.

I like to season the bread and tomatoes with salt. This obviously adds more flavor and it also draws out the moisture from the tomatoes and the juices seep into the bread. That is why choosing a sturdy Italian bread for this Italian appetizer would be a good choice. Nobody really likes soggy bread.

Recently I discovered that the grocery market has presliced fresh mozzarella. Slicing the mozzarella is not a big deal but since the fresh cheese is so delicate it’s hard to get perfect slices that are consistent. If you like the rustic look than I guess its okay but try the presliced ones and you be the judge.

Really at the end of the day you can make a tomato mozzarella and basil bruschetta anyway you prefer as long as you use the same ingredients in your production. You can dice the tomatoes and let them marinate in olive oil and basil and then put together your Italian appetizer or you can make a pesto with the basil. There can be so many variations of this tomato mozzarella and basil bruschetta so really try whatever works for you. Ingredients
  • 3 Tomato slices
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic reduction or balsamic vinegar
  • 3 Slices fresh mozzarella
  • 3 Basil leaves
  • 1 Piece of bread
  • 1 Tsp chlli flakes
Instructions
  1. Place the bread on a plate. Drizzle some Olive oil on top and season bread with a little bit of salt.
  2. Place tomatoes on top and season with a little bit of salt.
  3. Place cheese on top and sprinkle some chili flakes on top.
  4. Garnish with basil leaves, drizzle olive oil and balsamic reduction on top and enjoy.
